I have translated for NGOs for more than a decade by now. They all have different causes, different goals that spur them on, different people, ethnicities, et cetera, they care about.
To me, there is one maxim: Leave no one behind. And, looking at the NGOs I have the pleasure to work with, I see no contradiction.
From where I am, live, and work, the most profound impact I can make is by providing translations. If no one is left behind due to language barriers, that to me that’s just as good as other, more physical or tangible humanitarian aid.
